The Diocesan Services Appeal (DSA) began as an effort to help sustain the important work of Catholic Charities in the Dioceses of Gallup. This original purpose is still important. However, many new needs have been added to the DSA list. Needs such as sustaining and building Catholic education, parish outreach, repair and maintenance of aging facilities, pastoral ministries, and growth in programs that encourage vocations, spiritual life, and worship. Today the DSA is all about growing and sustaining the Church in the Dioceses of Gallup.
Who benefits from your gift to the Diocesan Services Appeal?
Catholic Charities
Thousands of poor, homeless, addicted, stranded, young, old, underprivileged, and disheartened are served through Catholic Charities. Locations in Gallup, Farmington, Chinle, Holbrook, White Mountain, and Grants all receive funding each year from the DSA.
Parishes and Missions
Each year, we fund programs that replace or repair equipment in our parishes and missions with money given through DSA.
Outreach programs
There are always many requests for money needed to help fund outreach in communities where Catholic Charities is not present. DSA dollars are given to help these special requests.
Catholic Education
Funding is given to projects such as putting new swamp coolers in St. Francis School in Gallup and funding new materials for a CCD program in a mission parish –the DSA is used to promote and support Catholic Education.
Sisters
Supplementing the salary of a much needed Sister to help a parish with its ministry and adding to our Sisters’ retirement plans has always been a priority of the DSA. There are over 100 Sisters serving in our diocese each year.
