The Kolbe Fund

An Endowment Fund to help pay for Diocesan Healthcare Costs.

Every day, the priests of the Diocese of Gallup dedicate their lives to serving God's people across 55,000 square miles of northwestern New Mexico and northeastern Arizona. They celebrate the sacraments, visit the sick, comfort grieving families, and bring Christ to communities that are often remote and underserved.

Yet many of these faithful priests live on modest incomes and face growing healthcare expenses as they age. Medical care, insurance costs, and long-term health needs continue to rise, creating a financial burden that can distract from the mission they have devoted their lives to fulfilling.

The Kolbe Fund was created to help change that.

Established by the Catholic Peoples Foundation, the Kolbe Fund is a permanent endowment dedicated exclusively to supporting the healthcare needs of active and retired priests of the Diocese of Gallup. By building a lasting source of funding, we can help ensure that our priests receive the care they need while allowing them to focus on what matters most: proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Named for St. Maximilian Kolbe, a priest who endured chronic illness throughout much of his life while serving God with extraordinary courage, the fund honors the same spirit of sacrificial service found in the priests who minister throughout our diocese today.

Our goal is to build a $4 million endowment whose earnings will provide ongoing support for medical, insurance, and healthcare expenses for generations to come. Because the principal remains invested, every gift contributes to a permanent legacy of care for the men who have dedicated their lives to caring for others.

Thanks to a generous founding benefactor, the first $250,000 in gifts will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of every donation made during this initial phase of the campaign.
